Ballet at Dance Arts Iowa
The STUDENT DIVISION (ages 6 and up) begins with lower-level classes taught slowly and carefully in order to emphasize proper posture and placement.
Ballet I begins with center barre work and then to center floor with technique appropriate for the age and skill level.
Ballet II & III work on coordination of the full body in turns, jumps, and leaps.
Ballet IV includes more difficult technique and Pre-Pointe and Pointe work if the dancers are determined to be ready by the teacher.
Ballet V continues to challenge with more difficult technique and performance. Students may continue to take class on Pointe and enroll in Pointe II.
Ballet II is a 1-hour technique and performance class. Ballet III is a 1.25-hour technique and performance class.
Ballet IV and V are 2.5-hour classes but divided into two (1.25 hour) sessions. Students in Ballet IV and Ballet V are required to take both the technique and performance classes.
